Has anyone heard of SLR 50 HP gain for 70.00? Must be too good to be true eh?

what about the K&N air intake. I saw that it has 5.41 HP for around 350.00. Is that even worth getting?

Haha I looked into the slr, jet blah blah, shit. Also everyone has an opionon about intake, majority do it for sounds due to thelack there of performance. To me a wast, I splurged haha on a afe pro dry s filter which I really like and a few exhaust mods that to me don't feel much different just sound nice :)

Maybe I don't feel a difference because with the added airflow I don't have a retune ie mass air flow calibrator from urd, and can't justify spening what 250 for it? Unless someone has done it with certain results which id love to hear about or see dynos

+1 on the intake. I'd rather save my money for forced induction.

I was thinking about getting one of them. Do you know the price range and do you have to make mods so you dont destroy your engine?

i'm not sure how much psi you can boost on a stock tacoma motor, but people throw em on without any mods. all it's going to do is stress the internals more than if you didn't have forced induction...that's all haha

well not sure but i have heard from my buddies dad who is a self proclaimed mechanic said that the 2nd gen 4 cily should be able to take about 8psi with out any serious mods but who knows...

o and about the intake i have a knn and well i noticed a little bit but not much sadly but honestly i noticed more outta the DT header than anything.

ya but with the sts turbo setup you run the risk of alot of problems such as not being able to do what your sig has a picture of, id be real skeptical doing offroading with it. running over a boulder with it. you can easily manufactur aka weld a exhaust manifold to accomodate a top or bottom turbo in the engine bay, for us 4 bangers lots of room to work with

my assumption. still though having a under car mounted turbo to me doesnt seem the best bet. do it right once and dont worry about it!

From my experience, a turbo definitely benefits from a less restrictive intake filter, but I've never really felt any difference with a n/a engine. OTOH I've definitely felt the difference with freeing up the exhaust of a n/a motor with headers, but not much difference with an aftermarket exhaust manifold for a turbo. My 2 centavos.

ya man true that less restriction = more power in some cases depending on what you do, but can also = more problems. i think it is hard to tell what you actually gain when you throw a muffler/ intake/ headers some times its just in your head cant always tell unless you jump on a dyno but who has money for that every time they get a new proformance part? haha
