Changed head gasket....truck won't start...please help

I have 130k on my yoda and just replaced the head gasket. It is a 2.7 I4 5 speed. I have everything put back together and the truck will not start. I have good spark, and I am getting plenty of fuel. The timing should be right on because the distributor is pointing towards the #1 cyl spark plug with the #1 cyl at TDC. Please help. The truck is flooded now so I have to wait for it to dry up. I didn't have the firing order correct at first because autozone had the rotation of the distributor backwards. Please help. I am open to any ideas!!!

 

No...not even a sputter. If I move the distributor forward or back one tooth it doesn't point at number 1 cyl.

 

Just like that. I have the same manual and it has been worth its weight in gold. Actually, I downloaded it offline in a pdf format.

 

No...I appreciate any help I can get because I am completly out of ideas.

Firing order is correct according to the pdf document.
Cyl #1 at TDC is pointing just like the manual.
Spark is good on all 4 cylinders.
Plugs are brand new, wires, cap rotor, fuel filter, all done in july
checked the resistance on coil, according to the pdf file, primary coil resistance was a bit high at .6-.7 ohms instead of .36-.55

Cams are correct, I pulled the plug on cyl#1 and put the wire back in the chamber to verify TDC on compression stoke..it was defintly on compression stroke.

 

The only idea I have left is that it is flooded and wont' start because of that. Again..I had the firing order wrong because of the autozone website. They had the dist rotating clockwise instead of cc. So, it flooded the cylinders with fuel. So..i'm guessing that it won't 'start because of excess fuel in the cyl. I have all plugs out letting the fuel dry up.

 

I also rolled the engine over by hand to verify no interference with the cylinders and valves.

 

That is the plan for now. It has been sitting for 1.5 hours so I'll go out and look in the cylinders to see if I can see fuel. I'll go out now and let you know.

 

Cyl#1 looked fairly dry compared to earlier. I am going to give it another hour just incase and give it another try. I appreicate the help.

 

I just tried again without any luck. The truck isn't even trying to start.

What else could contribute to the truck not starting?

Too much fuel or fuel pressure?
Plug not being the correct cold or hot level?
What sets the fuel injector timing?
Would the reading on the coil primary resistance be too high as not to allow a strong enough spark? What else can I check?

 

I just double checked the vaccum connections on the throttle body and everything matches the manual.

 

It is hooked up. Would that cause it not to start if I'm getting spark?

 

Is it possible that I installed the cams incorrectly? Could the spark be too weak to burn the fuel? My ignition coil measures .6 on the primary. According to the pdf manual it should read between .36-.55 ohms while cold. Could that .06 ohms really make it weak enough not to run? What should the compression read?

 

Did you verify TDC with a compression guage? It sounds to me that you might be at the top of the exhaust stroke. Something to check.
