Hi there! It is winter here in Indiana now and with our first snow I realized how easy it is for my 09 Taco (standard everything) to loose grip. I have electronic traction control. I know it is completely normal, but there is the most unhealthy noise that comes from by truck when the rear end starts to lose grip. I was just curious what kind of mechanical things are happening to make this noise. It's almost like the noise from anti lock brakes, but worse. Thanks!!

If you start to lose control and VSC kicks in (beeping, etc) the noise you're hearing is the brakes kicking in. Most of these traction control systems involve the brakes in some fashion to control wheelspin/torque.

Yep, rest assured its a very good noise, as the lack of it would probably mean you'd be facing the opposite direction quickly - or doing a one legger in the snow :)

ABS makes a lot of noise, in all cars, sucks, and i find it aggravating. although 99% of the time it is the difference between stopping and crashing, I do wish you could dis-able it
