Sorry to interrupt, but I'm having transmission problems with my 2.4L 4-cylinder. Help?

Inconsistent Power - or Inconsistent Pedal?

Just reading the LA Times article on Toyota's gas pedal problems makes me wonder if the problem I have been complaining about is connected.

Luckily I'm not experiencing the SUE that kills people - but my grievance is with the way the engine reacts to the pedal - same deal.

I'm working up north and when I get home I'll be heading back into that service centre that told me - "... no - we can't feel it - its probably just you...".

Aghhh my 2005 Tacoma is doing this too, I thought it was maybe the fuel filter or injectors or maybe the vacum lines. I was hoping by reading this post that I would find an answer but everyone that seems to notice the problem never gets the answer we're all looking for.
I didnt want to hear that it was the fly-by-wire throttle thing. Just give me a cable coming from my pedal dangit!
My symptoms are the give it light throttle and its fine in like 1st and second...You give it a little more to maybe pass a car or something and I can feel like a pull down. Like if you were pedaling a bike and someone jerks a rope for 1 second.
With a flowmaster exhaust you can really notice this going up a mountain. And REALLY notice it pulling a trailer.
It really bothers me to have a noticable surging, or a momentary bog of power. AGHHH!
Ok another example, make a constant MMM noise with your nose..then cover your nose so only a little air gets out for like a second. Sounds just like that! Help!!!!

Great point Kevin! Many of the techs I've experienced over the years are rushed, so they hop in and go, go, go. Sometimes you need to demonstrate the conditions under your own control.
