What's up with the accceleration in this thing. I mean like 0-15 it feals like nothing, then suddenly it decides to kick in when you floor it from a dead stop? I know it's not a sports car or anything but it's just kinda annoying.

I agree. I wish i had more accelration. My Office mechanic says i am comparing it to my old car that was much faster. my bro in law says put in a K&N air filter and a cat back exaust system and you will get slightly better acceleration but the exaust system alone will run you atleast 400 bucks

    Pretty much stock
seems like my truck got considerably quicker after 5k miles or so, as the motor gets broke in it runs better.

i dont have any trouble keeping up with traffic or merging with mine, and I kind of like rowing through the gears and the engine sound isnt so bad either. only time i wish i had more is on the highway and climbing hills. it would be nice to have a bolt on turbo kit though, show up at my door one day.. as a gift. by the way my address is p.o. box 24....

I agree with 08pretaco i will take more then just a air filter and exaust system if you want more power look into getting a more aggressive cam and/or programed computer however these thing are not cheap but if you want to get any real power increase you are going to have to spend some money

my 4 banger (08 singel cab) isnt bad at all i have maganflow muffler, knn intake, and DT headers. i notice it but my truck is a little slow off the line cuz of my little bigger than stock tires but its still not bad.

i can keep up with my GF's miata if not beat her and she isnt the typical girl driver she is very inpressive haha. the first i drove in the car with her this RX-8 pulled up next to her and reved at her they took off and she killed them after 4th gear. (sorry that was a little of topic )

no performance mod will really help the 4 banger produce enough power unless you do force induction. i feel your pain. when i go up the mountains its not fun having your truck running close to redline just to keep up with traffic. best performance mod that wont hack into your wallet too much would be headers. doug thorley makes some nice ones and i also found this..... http://www.toyotacatalog.net/M1WebG...UniqueID=E3E97A8B-B4E1-4578-B746-246DA163E762 ....i would have chosen the lc engineering headers if i had to redo my truck

really you have trouble keeping up with traffic in the MTN's? my truck does awesome never had a problem.

but you are somewhat right the KNN did a little more with the sound than power and same with the muffler.

but the DT headers deff did soemthin in the lower RPM's

fuck that! what on earth!!! how is that all your pushing...pm underway!

i do agree with the header from dt. i got them and guess i felt something maybe maybe not idk. i have been thinking about showing up to a wrx meet and pulling some runs haha just to see what the ~500 dollars i have spent on "power" mods got me.

here is a dyno from doug thorley for our 4 banger tacoma installed with their header:

then below is a dyno from a "tacoma with a k & n "cold air intake"":

judge for yourself where the 250 bones is better spent

damn guys, i have been having trouble with the mpg but not the acceleration mine seems pretty good. I can keep up for a lil while with the bigger engines but i dont experience what you guys r. I am looking to add some power to it, i am going to get a bunch of stuff from LC when i get the cash. Try regearing if you are pushing bigger tires, itll mess up your speedometer lol which is what i did but should solve the slow acc.

is it just the tires that mess up your speedo or the higher gearing?

you need to take into consideration that he has 33's without a regear as well. so maybe the calibrator did do something it just might not be noticeable due to the larger scheme of things
