Help with Intake decision...

Im looking at an AFE stage 2 cold air intake. now it says it goes from "Stage Two kits replace the entire intake tract all the way back to the Turbo or intake manifold, providing the ultimate level of fresh, clean, cool air to boost your performance." ... even tho i dont have a turbo, and my entire engine is stock except for exhaust ( muffler ) would it fit?

 

yes itll fit, but seriously recommend saving the money delete the secondary filter and just get the pro-dry S drop in filter

They sound nice. I had one, got rid of it and got he aFe drop in filter. Removing the secondary filter has gotten mixed reviews from members here on the V6. 4cyl seems to do better.

Are intakes are already a CAI. It gets the air from the fender instead of the engine compartment. It is tuned to reduce noise and provide power in the lower RPM bands.
A new CAI will sound louder as it is not tuned to keep noise down. Also, it is tuned to provide power in the upper RPM bands. You will lose some in the lower RPM's. Also, the way are engines work the brain will mix the air and fuel together. Our ECU has it set at a constant factor no matter what. So if you add more air, the ECU will add more fuel to keep the Air/Fuel ratio that constant figure. You will burn more gas w/o any real gains.

Now, if you want to modify the A/F ratio, you will see better gains. Nothing earth shattering. Anytime you mod the intake/exhuast you are messing around with the factory settings. If you don't modify those settings, any gains you might get will be pretty much wiped out.

You have the K&N, just keep that. Keep it clean and do not over oil.
