I deliver pizza so all city driving, along with a lead foot i'm getting 18-20mpg.
    5 lug AC Automatic.
Still use $30 bucks a day in gas.
betting then the $50 a day in my old Dakota!

If i remember right i got like 380 to 400 miles till the light came on.

See my fuelly.com results. I very seldom wait until fuel light pops on before I refuel.

my first post other than the intro:) Anyway mine still on the stealerships full tank so not knowing actually how full I'm still very interested in the mpg's thus the 4cyl(duh). havent had a 4 in 25+ yrs. Got all of 135 miles so far and maybe 1/3 tank used.Just wondering how these taco tanks work- are they fairly accurate or more like my T&C minivan where the top half lasts forever but the bottem half falls out.

They are pretty good but you will have around 4 gallons left when the light comes on.

My best tank was 751 miles, just had to push it since I was that close.

Usually the light comes on between 525-575.

I usually put in 18 gallons during warmer weather, just enough for the gas light to come on. When it gets colder, around 15 gallons. I average anywhere between 22 and 25MPG, I do 90% highway driving. Anywhere between 410 and 450 miles per fill up. I just ordered an AFE Pro-Dry filter, so we'll see if the MPG goes up.

Filled up today. 443.1 miles - 18.508 gallons = 23.95 MPG Not bad considering 100 miles or so was very short trip stop and go in cooler weather. Rest was interstate at 70-75 MPH indicated.

    This.

Normally, I'll refuel after 4 trips to work, which is about 350 miles, give or take local shopping trips.

Longest I've ever run is 439... last tank in fact, and that took 17.83 gallons.
The light had been on for about 20 miles. Most gas I've ever put in was 17.86, which was a 409 mile tank running high speed across the desert from LA to Phoenix (I didn't leave home on a full tank or I would have made Tucson)

Don't forget that both tire size and gearing impact the speedo/odo calibration.
Change anything and your numbers won't compare without using a calibrated source for mileage (and speed).

As soon as you change the gearing, your speedo and odo will immediately read higher, so it will look like you are driving farther.

Hit the road and compare your odometer to mileposts over 100 miles right now, then do the same with the new gearing. That'll give you an idea how much of a "paper" change you're seeing.

who in the world runs their fuel tank dry simply to see how many miles they get out of a tank of gas?

Is it weird that I get 21 in the city and if i'm lucky I get 19 HWY? Most I've ever gotten in the city was 315, and that was about bone dry from full tank (14 gl) Most I've gotten HWY is about 300...

    Speed kills.

While I get better on the highway than I do around town, pushing speed can easily reverse that.
My best and worst tanks have both been highway tanks... 27 and 21.
The tank at 21 was rolling 80-85 through Texas on I-10.
The tank at 27 was New Mexico holding it down to 60-65.

Finally able to calculate a tank.Have the truck barely 2 months and dont drive much anyway. First tank was from the dealer and I didnt really know the initial fill up info so my guestimate was about 18.5mpg. Second tank of gas was handicapped from the Sandy storm meaning was getting any gas while I could for a while. Third tank is my first accurate measurement. Not as great as excpected, 16.5mpg.However it is all heavy city(suburban) where I rarely drive more than a minute w/o stopping, slowing down, slow turns, not caring too much about monitering the mpg's, etc, no hi-way at all.Still amaybe 5-6mpg better than my big ole Chevy was.
