2.7 wont stay running

    3" susp lift 3" body lift
    have 1996 toyota tacoma 4x4 with a 2.7 5spd, i changed the head gasket on it and now it wont stay running. it runs for about 5 seconds and just dies. what could be this problem.

    A damaged or uninstalled crank sensor can cause this.

    i also tried advancing and retarding the timing and it still runs for 3 seconds and dies, so im thinkin ur right

    Also, if the timing gear is damaged (missing a tooth), it will do the same thing.

    I know i aint missing a tooth, but what could make the crank sensor to go bad.

    Age, but it was only a suggestion. There could be another issue. Is everything hooked up properly?

    yea i got everything hooked up except the fuel pressure regulator vacuum hose the air cleaner if that makes a diffenece

    im guna have to get a longer hose cuz its to short, but would that really make the engine die like that

    i changed the crankshaft sensor and the fuel pressure vacuum hose and it runs alittle better but it still wont stay running. it dies as soon as you give it gas. anymore suggestions would be very helpfull

    No i dont have it 180 out Im pretty sure its on the combustion stroke

    Locked, Flat bed, 22R 5 speed, BFG KO2's
    Kinda sounds like if you turn your truck on without the MAF sensor connected. it would start but die a couple of seconds later. the vacuum hose also affects the truck in idle.
