Thanks for the scoop on wheel info although are you sure about the backspacing? Cragar site showed only 4" I believe. Any pics?

When Running my 5-lug with stock 215/70r15 my speedo read 65 when I was really doing 62 according to GPS (which is dead on in my wife's Honda Fit).

With 235/75r15 when my speedo reads 65, GPS says I'm Going 66. So I would imagine with 225/75r15s or 235/70r15s it should be about dead on.

if your looking to run larger wheels i would get teh 30" tires, they measure .5" larger than the 235/75/15 which is a 1/4" wider each side. Those will allow you to run 8" wheels which are the more common truck size tire. I havent found a set of 7" truck wheels, i only see the sporty 5 spokes. When i need new tires i will get the 30" and wider wheels. Dont get me wrong though, i do muchly enjoy my AT's at 235/75/15 they should have come stock right out of toyota, and it does make the speedo correct till i re-geared which screwed it up royally lol. and the 29" tires i have now fit no prob. still have good clearence

Don't 30s require you to trim and take out the black boxes from behind the wheels? or is that 31s?

    Cappy,

I don't care for the way 8" wide wheels kick the tires out close to or just beyond edge of body so I'll either run stock 15x6" wheels, Cragar Soft 8's or something equivalent in a 15 x 7" size. If i can get a nearby tire dealer to mount up both I try them for looks and then decide. I know I'll have to re-gear to get the power back down where i want it. I need to find a quite tire in 235/75/15 that still works reasonably well in snow, dirt, etc

    Goatus,

I dont see why the 30's would make you cut out the black box, they are only 1/4" wider than the 235's, but i could be wrong. Correct me if i am

    Motoreto,

if you can find a nice truck wheel at 7" wide i would like to know too. I would actually get a set of those and continue to run the 235's. The only difference between the 235's and 30's is like 1/2" or so. I wish the 235's had the ability to run the 8" wheel. The only reason i would get the 30's is for the 8" wheel. I dont think it would stick out at all, but again i could be wrong. I would actually like the tires to be a little wider, for better traction and handling purposes, at least thats what i think it would do.
but again 2 each is there own,

    Thanks for the confirmation man!

So I would say that 235/75r5 is the largest you can go without modding at all.

Does anyone know if 31x10.5 will fit non-lifted but with the black boxes off?

How do you remove the black box, and do you have to fill it when its off?

you def have to get rid[IMG] of the black boxes for 30x9.50 even with lift. this pic i still had them but they scrubbed slightly.

I have read from a post in CustomTacos about someone who ran 31s (no lift) with the "right" wheel specs. By "right", I don't know what they are. The person ended up removing the tires because it was too much for his engine.

Also, like what Tim said, the black box behind the plastic fender needs to be removed.

That page has some good info on the black boxes and how to remove them... Apparently it's super simple as you just have to cut the wheel well lining and unbolt them... As for filling the cut area back in I thought about cutting a triangle out of the removed material and using a soldering iron to "weld" it back to the other plastic by just melting the edges together, but that might look funky and until I re-gear and go up to 31" tires i won't have to worry about it.

If anyone does the removal and gets some pictures it would probably make for a good sticky.
