Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
When's the last time you did a tune up? (plug/wire/cap and rotor change).

The thermostat usually won't cause it to stall.

It's possible for the engine to stall from a none op thermo. The ECU uses the coolant temp sensor for all kinds of information. If that info is not where it should be cause it's either too cold or too hot then it will not give the proper outputs to the various controls.

did you get the head checked for warpage? Overheating an aluminum head is never good and usually ends up warping the mating surface.

does it look like the head gasket went again? (white exhaust smoke and disappearing coolant).

edit: nevermind the aluminum part, just noticed you have a 22re. Still, warping is possible on iron.

It might be worth just changing that out although I doubt it would cause the truck to run bad.

Im stumped, maybe someone else can chime in on this.

its a 22re engine. and i have replaced the heaad gasket plugs and temp sensor and thermostate. changed the oil and filter and still cant figure out what the problem is. my dad believes its a vacuum leak somwhere. cuz it will idle but when you go to put it in gear and step on the break it stalls. i think its the fuel pump, any ideas?

Oh my God, that really sucks. I've never heard of anyone having this much trouble with a 22re. Cant they just mill the head down to make it level again?
