For more speed you are looking at a supercharger, new exhaust, headers, new air filter set-up, etc... Some of these require easy work and there are how-to's on here if you have some time and don't want to pay extra cash for a shop to do it.

go with a supercharger, headers, deckplate mod. but people are going to give you crap because there is a new thread posed about this like every day.

OP, you have a small, reliable, efficient engine. none of that spells fast. you can regear, that'll make you have more get up and go, but that'll be moneys and time. you could put smaller rims and tires too, but then you'll have to tell your parents that you're not a man. Seriously, if you want fast, sell the taco and get a fast car. with all the mods that tacoma 206 and I listed, you still won't be the fast truck...because you have an efficient, slow 4banger.

OP - if you want more performance out of your 4 banger this is what you need:
    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/un...ment/89849-urd-supercharger-05-4-bangers.html

URD makes arguably the BEST performance products for Tacoma's

Will it be a rocket? No.

Will it push you back in the seat? Yes.

Supercharging the 2.7 is possible & although you'll need to run premium fuel, you will get the performance.

Gadget at URD is a magician with these systems.

If you didn't want a smartass answer then you shouldn't have made this thread- think about it, if there was a cheap and easy way to make an i4 tacoma faster and better, don't you think Toyota would have manufactured them that way?

I know you want us to tell you about some air filter or intake system that boosts your horsepower, or some awesome spark plugs you can get, or some plug-and-play chip that makes your truck track-ready, but that crap doesn't exist, anywhere, ever.

Whomever told you to trade your truck in for a sports car was your real help.
