I have a 02 Tacoma PreRunner TRD, 2.7l 4cyl and plan on pulling a camper that weighs about 1700lbs with cargo. I want to have a Hayden trans cooler installed and was hoping somebody could tell me how many hours will a shop typically charge to install one. I have a friend who charges 1/2 of a shops hourly rate and he is a certified mechanic. I plan on removing the grill and relocating the horn myself so that may save a little time. thx

Get the Toyota TRD Transmission Cooler. $175 on Ebay. Bolts right on. You can do it yourself. The mounting holes are on the radiator support. No mounting it to the side of the radiator.

it is not a big deal

you need to be able to capture and store atf fluid

and find a place to bolt the cooler, attach rubber hoses to it.

and then be able to top off the transmission to the correct level

any operation you do with an open hose or fill to the tranny should
be clean-room conditions, so all new lint-free rags is mandatory

How much fluid do you think comes out when hooking up the cooler lines?

When installing a transmission cooler , you can loose up two cups of transmission fluid .
As mentioned above ,using the pull straps that come with the cooler to install the transmission cooler really is not the best idea . Its better to bolt the cooler in rather than using the pull straps .Make sure you get 4 bolts with the kit .
No more than 2 hours labor .
Never used Hayden but I would recomend Tru-cool anyday .
