Hi All, I have a 2.4L 2wd tacoma that I want to convert to an electric hybrid. My plan, at this point, is to swap in a 4x4 W59 transmission (mine has a 2wd w59) and attach a big electric motor to the transfer case output that would normally drive the front wheels. Instead, when I have 4wd engaged, I'll be able to power the rear wheels from the motor (and engine) as well as doing regen braking.

I'd like to have an electronic transfer case, so I could disconnect the motor on the fly when I reach some speed, say 50mph. I've never owned a 4x4 or done a trans swap, so I come here seeking your infinite experience and wisdom. :p

Is there an electronic transfer case that will bolt up to a w59 trans, either the 2wd or 4wd version?
