2010 instrument panel pic?

Hi all,

I searched around all over and cant find a picture explaining the buttons that are on the left side of my steering wheel. Does anyone have a link showing what all the buttons that can be there are and what they are for? Reason I ask is I have one that I have no idea what it is for. I can take a pic and post.

Also, since I am new to taco and cant find info anywhere. ...I have a question about the different driving modes.

What is the '4' gear next to the 'D'?

And when can the Hi 4 be used? Even in the rain?

There should also be a fog light switch slightly higher and to the left of those buttons.

I'm assuming you're an automatic, the 4 next to the D is probably going to be 4th gear.

4x4 should never be used on dry pavement. It will cause a lot of binding.

Just fyi, there is a box with a handle on it approximately where the knees of your passenger would be. In that box should be a black book with an owner's manual, that would be able to answer all the questions you have about day to day operation of your truck.

I bought the truck used and there is no Owner Manual. But appreciate the instructions on how to get to it

Anyway, here is a pic. It's the middle button that doesn't really appear to be a button. Maybe the button feel off? I just have no idea what it is.

 

is it solid plastic or does it click? its probably just a replacement cap

 

my top three are all blank and smooth (regular cab, manual tran). Your middle one seems different with a dot in the middle.

 

That middle button that dosen't click is just a blank where the DAC (Downhill Assist Control) would be.

Edit: I see what you're talking about. That's where the Diff lock would be, but who knows what was placed there. Maybe the self-destruct button?

 

It almost has the appearance of being an LED light. you can push it but it doesn't click into a locked position or out. Its kind of just there. Its a 2010 DC. Weird

 

Top row middle where the led is for aftermarket alarm..do you have one?

 

Ahh, that makes sense. So, this is where an aftermarket LED would be installed for an alarm?

Here OP, buy this owner's manual for $7, put it in the storage compartment in front of the passenger's knees. That way I feel better and don't lose sleep over my unwelcomed sarcasm. :sarcasticsmiley:

Well when they install the aftermarket alarm they can put that senser anywhere. But most chose one of the blank spots. Mine is in same location.

Original question answered. You guys rock

 

4 should be used at speeds less than 50mph or so, D should only be engaged when driving on the freeway/highway. You should also never tow in D, only 4.

D or 5th gear is the weakest gear in the transmission and should only be used like an overdrive.
