Has anyone done a Yakima Tracks with Landing PAds and Control tower bed install

So I have a bakflip Toneau currently on my tacoma DCSB.

I am thinking about trying to fit a set of Yakima Tracks along the top of my truck bed.

I'll then will use yakima control towers and round bars with the tracks.

This would give me the flexibility of sliding the control towers towards the front if I want to flip the toneau cover up. I also like the option of quickly removing the the bars if I want them out of the way. Has anyone done this? How difficult is it to attach things to the top of the truck bed?

 

This guy did it. Said he used rivnuts/plusnuts to attach the track to the factory sheetmetal. See post #8 below

i already added tracks to the bed and mounted my bed rack. not the greatest pics, but easy as hell. You can get the tracks for like $60-70 bucks shipped for 5 feet tracks.

will need to find longer screws/bolts but it mounts secure for right now.

 

Where can I get tracks for that price?

 

05sc, did you use the Yakima plusnuts?

 

I did this to my 03 Tacoma. It had a "snug lid" cover. Mounted the tracks, towers, and 4 trays. Worked awesome. No leaks, solid. Sorry no pics. This was a long time ago

 

No they come with screws for the tracks, but you'll need to get longer ones at the hardware store, they work but i haven't checked if it has gone throught the top sheet metal.

here is the site i got the tracks from. Great price, and way cheaper than yakima.

 

Also i went to home depot and got my own bars made from 3/4 inch metal tubing that they cut and threaded for the cap. way cheaper than yakima tubes. you might be able to use 1 inch tube but didn't try to fit that into the control tower, the end caps will catch if the bars ever end up moving.
