I don't know too much about ball joints, but I believe I need to replace my left lower ball joint because not only is my alignment to the left off but it looks like the boot itself is ripped. My question is, do I have to? (pictures) And also Do I need to replace the left and right lower ball joints at the same time or not? Thanks!

how many miles are on your truck?

doesnt necessarily look like the boots are ripped, just some residue oozing out of the bottom which is common and normal. in that situation i would not replace the ball joints, only if they are worn out.

best way to test if they are worn out is to jack the front wheels off the ground and grab hold of the wheel and shake it vigorously (lol) while looking at the ball joints at the same time. if you can see or feel sloppy movement at the ball joints then it's time to replace

Thank you very much! I think I will replace the left lower ball joint and get my alignment done so there will be absolutely no problems. There's a little over 60k on the truck. The guy before me used to do a lot of off-roading.
