Either get a new LSD or get an ARB. Its awesome having a locker man, I love it. Plus with the ARB youd have on board air.. But you gotta shell out the extra cash to get the compressor. And don't even think about going non-selectable, you would regret it when you go in snow or a wet area. And Detroit lockers suck. So arb or LSD

Lol this whole thread gives me a headache :D
    Ok lets clear things here.
    1. If you planning to replace factory LSD then you need locker that also is a carrier. Hence no Powetrax, which also means whatever you get will cost you in gear setup. Rebuilding factory LSD costs only the clutchpacks or only shims if wear is minimal. There is no gear settings involved you just take a part and put it together the same way. So you can do it in your own garage with friends over the beer.

    2.
    Its not true.
Truetrac is almost a open diff. Factory LSD is as close to locker as possible with out being actual locker.
Here is what Truetrac does when one wheel gets in the air
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z94AvtCEIdc

Factory LSD has preload that will pull you even with one wheel in the air (as long as it is not broken of course)

    3. Locker is best traction device unless you are not into hard of camber things.
    4. Truetrac is best for street racing and I would think high speed desert race type things, however if you slow down and send gets too deep you will get stuck
    5. Factory LSD is in between locker and Truetrac.

Sounds like first thing you need to do is to figure out what do you want your truck to do.
If you decide you are more into offroading then locker is good replecement, if you are more into street or desert runs then Truetrac. However if you are both I would look at rebuilding factory LSD

this is rubbish. Do you have or have you ever had a TruTrac installed in your truck. TruTrac is great and blows the factory (brakes and engine) LSD away. Also what kind of bullshit video is that- all it shows is that the guy driving doesnt know WTF he's doing)
The OP doesnt have the funds for ARB (being the best solution ) and is using his truck as a DD ,making a non-selectable Locker out of the question. Using the trutrac in conjuction with the oem trac control (brakes) is pretty damn good. If you are doing alot of desert (higher speeds) you can hold the track button for 5 seconds and just use the trutrac

OP if you decide that you want to stay with the original setup for your truck I will sell you my oem setup (only 5k miles on it).

4wp price matches..its the only thing they are good for. So if you shop around find a cheaper price elsewhere and show it to 4wp they will price match it.

Talking about rubbish. Op has 06 so no traction control. Second you want to sell him your open diff ? Your truck is 11 so you never had mechanical L s d. I am not telling Op what to buy, I am telling him to think before he spends money. Sounds like he is going with Truetrac and he won't be disappointed unless he finds himself offroading in some heavier things. You have traction control and that is what is making trutrac work in heavy offroading.

Rubbish. Traction control was an optional package in 2006.

bringing this one from the dead... Rcfreak you ever get that tru trac? I had a detroit locker in the last jeep that was a DD.. i wheeled it a lot so it was worth it but a pain on the street. I want a detroit tru trac for my taco... the most aggressive limited slip on the market with good road manors still. also you can apply a little brake and it'll lock up like a locker.

any personal experience with a taco with detroit tru trac?? mine's a TRD sport with auto. have traction control,ABS,auto lsd (not mechanical).
