Finally New Spark Plugs After 90K Miles

Well I bought this truck a few months back with 87K miles on it. This weekend I decided to start on my 90K mile service. I bought my spark plugs (Denso) on Amazon for around $3 a piece. It took my about an hour to change the plugs and to my surprise, they were the original plugs. I measured the gap on the old ones. NGK=.061 & Denso .055 Wow! I also cleaned the throttle body while I was at it. Now my truck idles much smoother. I took a couple pics with my phone so sorry about the quality. Next, I will be tackling the drivetrain fluids.

 

That's a long time to go without changing the plugs! If that truck was serviced at a dealership, they outta be ashamed.

If I was a "unaware" vehicle owner, I would expect the dealer to lemme know what service is expected when (even if it is the owners manual). Just sayin'.

 

yea that is shocking for them to be the original. I'm about to change into my second set of plugs and I'm just about to turn 70K. i changed my originals out at 33k

 

They are worn, but look like the engine is running good.

 

Mine were changed for the first time @ 179k They had been eaten away a bit by that time...

 

I'm suprised that you were able to get those out without breaking them. Everytime I change plugs I hold my breath when I break them loose. One thing I did is let my truck warm up a bit before I took them out. I think it helps, especially if they have been in there for a while.

 

They came out no problem...if I remember correctly the engine was a bit warm when doing it.
