Dash Kit

Hi. I have a 2011 Tacoma double cab with the stock radio. I want to replace it with a single DIN head unit. I'm still trying to figure out which unit. What is the best dash kit? I want it to be silver in color and look as much as possible like the original one. It needs to be a textured one. Is Scosche the way to go? Where can I buy one?

I want to keep the steering wheel controls, so I guess I need a Metra Axxess ASWC Universal Steering Wheel Control Interface. I can get one on Amazon for about $45. Is this the best way to go?

this is what I have, works fantastic. its for pioneers. they make adapters for other hu brands

 

The Metra steering wheel unit is supposed to be better since it does not require a resistor to be installed in the wiring and it auto-programs itself. Note that I have the SWI-PS unit and not the Metra (not available when I installed). If I had to do it over again though, it would be the Metra unit.

 

I'm looking at a Metra dash kit (#99-8214TG) on ebay. It says "not compatible with premium and amplified factory systems." I have a stock 2011 PreRunner with the 5-disk changer. How can I tell if it's a premium or amplified system? It doesn't have a model number or anything on the front. Thanks.

 

I believe that the Tacoma Metra dash kits are the same whether they are the base system or the JBL.
