Does your niece go to Montessori? I was going to get Montessori trained (worked at one for 6 years), but had to get a job quick since my daughter was born. I'll have to look into those apps.

My wife and I have an iPad and I let my 4 yr old son play on it for a few minutes each day. Maybe up to half an hour. But if he asks for it over and over and over (as kids sometimes do) then we say no. We have games on it just for him; I got him the Cars 2 app and cars for Christmas (Don't tell him).

We love the Leapfrog stuff, we got him the Leapfrog reading pen, he takes his books and that pen everywhere (headphones were a must). We want to get him the Leapfrog version on the iPad, Leappad (I think), but poeple bought out all the stores to try and sell them on ebay for a big markup.

The name of the game is diversifying time. We play outside a lot and limit the time on the iPad and in front of the TV. But we do give him time to play on the iPad and watch TV.

Did you need an iPad when you were 2 years old? How did you turn out?
