Many people talk down on Rams. Personally, I've never owned one, but I love how they look all beefed up.

Ya. I've heard numerous compliments on the diesel. Why is the gasoline one so bad?

Agreed. We've got one on the farm I work on all the bells and whistles 6.7L Cummins with a bully dog chip and "smoke switch". We can load it 10 round hay bales and drive to market with out any problems and it has yet to be in the shop for anything other than mods and minor work. As for OP's truck.

Because there's nothing like a diesel. We would get 20+ mpg's loaded riding to market easy. Not to mention what it feels like stomping the gas to pass a Prius leaving a thick trail of black smoke in our wake.

It's SO much fun. The Cummins' will smoke with or with out the switch when you get on it but the switch just makes it smoke that much more.

I had no clue they had a switch for the smoke stack.
Does this also apply to the exhaust? I know they put out a small amount of smoke, but I've seen some on the highway that put out a large amount.

I personally think they put more time and money into the Cummins. The gas one I had was crap, and a few other friends that have gas RAMs seem to fall apart.....Its too bad, as I think they are the best looking trucks out.

It has duals out the back that bend and exit behind the tires. A "smoke switch" is just a wire that's soldered to override some smog thing wired to a switch in the cab whether it's on or off doesn't affect anything except the emissions I'm not sure what it overrides though. Basically rather than blowing smoke under full load it'll blow smoke at say 50% throttle.

Its soldered to the map sensor, it tells it that its at full boost so then it dumps more fuel, which creates more smoke.
