2012 owners: Stereo opinions?

For the 2012 owners who have the new stereo (pictured below) how do you feel about it? I sure hope it's easier to see in daylight.

 

I like it, huge upgrade over my Tundra radio. I really like the USB port. I bought an 8gb thumb drive so now I have a ton of music to choose from. Overall I'm very happy with it.

 

To see it better you have to turn off the headlights on the left stalk.

 

Love it. Only issue I've had so far is that for some reason, whenever I start my truck, the stereo defaults to "BT Audio". I have to then manually hit the AUX button once to switch it to USB. None of the other stereo settings change - just USB. If I had it on CD, it stays CD. If I set it to Radio, it stays on Radio. But for some reason It doesnt want to stay on USB...

 

I do not recommend the navi unit.

 

This looks just like the unit in my wife's '11 Sienna.

 

I'm happy with it. It does seem too lack in power though. I play it at about 80% and that would be about 40% on most of my other stereos i've had. Other than that, it's great.

 

One of the problems I had with the old stereo was sun glare and dust at certain times of the day. If you had just the right conditions, it was impossible to read the display. I hope those days are history.

What about the clock below it? Can you easily read it during the day?

 

One more question, do these stereos have built in Bluetooth for hands-free phone operation? If yes, how well does it work?

 

I'm no '12 owner, but if the speakers are still as awesome as the 07's, and likely so, that's probably why. They suck. Pull one out and you'll know why. It doesn't take much cash to improve on those jewels. I found myself cranking it up just to hear the music clearly...and it never really happened. I no longer have to turn it up as much.

 

Did you just replace the speakers, or the whole system?

 

i have a 12 with the entune/JBL and it is way better than the old JBL system. but, it still needs improving. haven't really used the nav much, but it is better than dodge's nav unit i had on my 10 ram. they changed it for the 11 model to a garmin based system that was supposed to be much better.

 

I use my iPhone 4 BT - the radio works great,the system keeps the audio in the front left also, so that was different then my wife's jeep. Call quality is very good. You have to say out the numbers to call,it doesn't download your contacts but bfg.

 

Could you clarify what you mean by audio in the front left?

For incoming calls, does the stereo display the phone number?

 

Sorry, only the drivers front speaker is on when using the hands free, privacy I guess... And I have had my truck for three days and only made outgoing calls.. Sorry don't know what it shows. Ill get me wife to call me on the way to work and see what shows up.

 

The mic and speaker for the BT are in front of the driver. It will display the incoming call number - assuming your phone gets it (i.e. not a "private" or "blocked" call or some such").

The sound quality is pretty good, and the voice controls are pretty slick. I like the stereo quite a bit, actually.

 

I haven't had much time to really play around with the Bluetooth but is it just me or do u need to go thru way too many things to make a call? I mean I press the voice key and have to say dial by number. Then say the number and then hit the unhooked phone button. All other bluetooths it's one button speak the number and done.

 

The radio is very nice, at first I thought it was a step back, the jeep I traded in had the nav and 6 inch screen... But it is almost refreshing in a way, more simple but not less capable. Sounds good for the cabin. I will probably add a sub down the road, but with the BT and USB and sat radio what else do you need. Btw in car DVD based nav was a pain, I always used my phone or a hand held gps anyway, more up to date IMHO

 

Why don't you recommend it?

 

That's interesting about the audio going to the driver's side only.

Could a passenger join in on a phone call very easily, or is the speaker/microphone such that only the driver can participate?
