Disapointment set in today

Well after months of saving I was able to purchase a Leer 100XQ camper shell 3 weeks ago. It was installed last Friday. When I got home with it, none of the lights worked in it so I took to the fuses and found a wire loose. I fixed that. Today it rained and I had a miniature Niagra Falls in my bed. Not only was it seriously leaking around the back glass but it was leaking from the front left hand corner. Taking it back tomorrow to get fixed. Hopefully Leer will stand behind their product. Here are the pictures of the delightful leaks.

 

You paid 2600 or something like that right? That better damn do something about it.

For that kind of money, they'd better make it right.

 

The front leak looks like there is insufficient weatherstripping between the cap and the front of the bed .

The leak around the rear glass can occur if the weatherstrip on the glass is too short , or you are parked nose down on a hill

 

The weather stripping extends like 3 inches into the inside of the bed. That is where the water is coming from. Due to the glass not closing tight enough to make a good seal along the sides the water is traveling from the top, into the area between the glass and sheel, into the weather stripping and into the bed.

Shouldn't the weatherstrip be on the outside of the bed , directing the water outward ? That's how it is on my 100RCC

I have no idea how it is supposed to be. But I have about 3 inches inside the bed and it still has the red/gray doublse sided tape on it........

 

I know they put a seal on the front of the bed, but I do not know if it was a "special one".

 

ya i know the shitty feeling of saving for something thats "brand name" and it sucks -__-

 

sweet jesus i didn't know they cost that much.

 

I am just glad I did not have the bed full of Hobart scales today at around $4000.00 each. Leer would not have been to happy getting the call that their incorrectly installed shell ruined $28,000.00 in equipment.

 

My back glass is different , but the little tail on the glass weatherstrip is on the outside of the gate when closed

 

the way it looks...............they didnt.

 

Leer installed it ?

 

At the very least it needs to be doubled up regular stuff to fill the drop in the bed front

 

they dont all cost that much,thats why i shopped around and when with a Jason topper.i dont need the name brand stuff all the time and my $1175 works great
