3 leaf, 4 leaf , probably won't matter, smart money says it'll be the same old Toyota POS springs, I mean if they're continuing the TSB B.S. into the 2012 production year what else can it be ???:notsure:

I concurr, Oz, Whip, the newby 2012 owners arent picking up what your layin' down....

As long as this spring TSB shit follows one production year after another its safe to assume that Toyota has failed us again with passing these poor suspenders off on the public....

A little Canadian input here, 12 Access Cab TRD Off Road, 4 leaf pack. Identical to my 09. Nice firm ride, never had any issues with either. Seem's to be all over the map here though. Leaf spring TSB's on the 2012's?? WTF??

In all probability, most Tacoma buyers today probably never haul more than a load of groceries and never drive over anything harsher than a speed bump at the mall. It is Toyota's fault, they built a reputation for quality and all the Yuppies are buying them now. The remaining 10% of us who actually use a truck in one manner or another are paying the price for this now.

This.... & I'll add that most here haven't had the benefit from owning/driving pre 95' toyota SR5's or 1st gen Tacomas, if i wanted a "car" ride I woulda bought a fuggin' car, just shows how far they've strayed from what made them legendary..

The 4 leaf pack or ( TSB ) pack is 3 leafs plus the overload

The US stock 3 leaf pack is 2 leafs plus the overload

You're correct that 4 leafs are stiffer. However, for Off roading, it is better to have more flex - for better articulation and handling on uneven terrain.

The trouble arises in that springs are like tires - it is impossible to get one set that does everything, awesomely, all the time, everywhere. You have to choose what your priorities are (load carrying, flex, etc.) and optimize for that and make some compromises to achieve those goals.

Toyota is in a no win situation here - whatever choice they make will leave someone declaring them morons for not having chosen a different set of priorities.

At the end of the day, the springs, like the tires, are a (relatively) inexpensive upgrade. So, if you don't like whatever came stock, talk your parents into giving you a better allowance and buy ones that do what you want. :D

We used to call the short leafs on the bottom, The Overloads. When you get down on them it's time to be careful. Mine is an 08 with 2 leafs plus the "Overloads". I was told that I should only haul 1300 lbs max. My dad used to haul that much in the trunk of his old Chevy car. If I buy a pallet of bagged coal, I have to put half in the bed of the truck and half on my trailer. That's 1200 lbs in each place. But it pulls easy with that 1GR-FE.

Glad all this makes sense - ha!

After looking at all the posts, there seems there is no rhyme or reason to the leaf count.

Maybe one of the Toyota Techs on the forum can shed some light on the subject?

My two day old 2012 A/C SR-5 4-cyl (no tow package) has three leaves - same as my former 2011 regular cab (I know that wasn't part of the TSB).

Any word if the 2012s will be added to the infamous TSB?

2012 AC TRD OR 6spd, I have 2 leafs and 1 overload. Sags quite a bit with 6 tires and wheels in the bed but I want flex for offroading.
