Need help with my lift

Hey guys so I finally have some money to put some new wheels/tires on my taco and put a lift on it but I'm not sure what to do. I have an '09 extended cab trd.

I know I want to put 33s on it but in terms of a lift, I want a basic 3-5" lift maybe and just to level the front out as well b/c right now stock it sits a little lower than the back. My eventual goal is to put a long travel TC kit on it. I want to do the front and back at the same time so that is on the backburner for now.

What is the best way to give my truck a decent lift and a good look with my new tires? Is coil overs just the way to go? Also is there something that I can do now that when I get my TC kit eventually I won't have to take off, or is that not possible?

What do you guys think is best?

Any help is appreciated guys, I know I have noobish knowledge compared to some of you.

How do those coil overs compare to fox or camburg? My brother told me to go with one of those for the front but wanted some other opinions. Is it better to get a complete set that comes with everything like the ones you posted?

ok thanks jflan. I think Im decided on fox c/o's for the front. Not sure if I want to add the TC uca's at the moment. Do they make a huge difference?

as for the back Im not sure exactly what I should do yet.

 

If you're going 3", it's probably a good idea to do the UCA's now instead of later. Proper alignment is a huge plus in drivability and tire wear.

OK, if you had done your reading you would have found out that when you lift a (2nd gen) Taco over 2-1/2" you lose your caster adjustment.
Aftermarket UCA's allow you to regain that caster.
Without good positive caster (2.4 to 3.1) your rig might wander or bump steer.
The UCA'a with Uniball and socket give more articulation if you plan on wheeling where you will go full stuff and full droop.

They go for anywhere from $380 to $1000 per pair, depending on what you pick.

I just saw that you're a PreRunner.
You can go with a spindle lift in the front.
Spindles push the "imaginary" front axle centerline down and all your stock components can stay if your want.
4x4's can't do this type of lift.

 

Yea I was thinking 3-3.5 ok then I definitely want to get the uca's with the c/o's. That should be a pretty decent front set up right?

For the back would you guys recommend an AAL or a whole new leaf pack?

 

It would depend on your usage. If you're not hauling a lot of weight, and AAL might be fine.

As an example, I had about a half a face cord of wood in the bed of my Toy and it shaped the leaf pack with AAL into a "W", it just rippled the springs over the AAL. With the OME Dakars in the back, I can drive at speed in the curvey, hilly roads at home with a full face of wood plus all my recovery equipment, compressor(compact), in a bedbox with no issues at all.

So...I would go leaf pack!

 

Lol the longer Im on this damn site the more I want to do to my truck!! I'm looking at the TC 3.5" lift spindles now and man they look super sick. And rear leaf pack seems to be the way to go I'm gonna go broke I already know it lol

 

One nice thing with spindles is you dont need new upper control arms IIRC. Someone correct me if I'm wrong

So atm I am really looking into the TC spindles, I really like the way the this lift looks. Instead of keeping my stock components I still want to put on some fox c/o's and TC uca's. Does anyone have this setup or one similar and how do they like it?? pics??

For the rear idk what I should do this is where I need some recommendations!! I was looking at a AP leaf pack I think it was the expedition pack IIRC. How are these leafs compared to its competitors?
What else should I do to the rear? Specific shocks?
