2012 Sub Woofer Rattling

So I just bought my new, 2012, Tacoma and as was on the way home from the dealer, I heard a rattling coming from what I thought was a blown speaker. I took it back the next day and the mechanic said the rattling comes from a plastic piece located behind the back seat, next to the Sub woofer. Then the mechanic told me that Toyota does not have a fix for the issue, but it is common.

Is the information I got accurate or is the Mechanic just not wanting to fix it because the job doesn't pay? Does anyone know what will fix the problem?

 

Yes, it's normal and it sux. If you let the seat up and hold or wedge somthing while the stereo is turned up you can see for yourself.

Any ideas on something more permanent and still makes the seat easy to use.

 

If you don't mind taking the factory sub out then get a box made like this.

 

I also had this problem with my 2012. The best solution I found was putting carpet padding under, and around the sub. Made the rattle almost, if not completely go away. I just duct taped the padding around it, but make sure you don't put it over the amp, or the amp might get too hot. Hope that helps!
