Step 1: Offer stylish but weak accessories at great markup.
Step 2: Offer said accessories in a package with fancy bedside graphics.
    Step 3: Profit!

Hey, it could be worse. We could've gotten gaudy bedside graphics like this:

x2 but in MOST states you can’t run real bead locks on the street (legally) when i was looking at that in TN like 3 or 4 years ago i read the you can legally run true bead locks on the street in TN.

the average user would never check the torque on the bead lock bolts creating a hazard on the road, those who would actually check the torque and understand that they are important to keep an eye on, run them anyway, my buddy currently has 6 BL rims on his truck, 4 on 2 spares... most highway patro/ police do not know the difference/care to check, thus they get away with it

so the real reason is because people are stupid and dont check torque settings?

fixed. this makes them unsafe and unpredictable from person to person. imagine you, or a family member is killed because someone who went to 4wp said "i want these" and never maintained them and the tire flew off causing an accident

Sorry, they just look like the ugly ass 4runners or if you get white it looks like storm trooper helments off star wars and add a bunch of chrome pep boys wheel covers, fake hood scoops and other nonsense gimmickery to justify stealing more of your money. Hate? Nah, just not liking. Not my money so have at it. It's your cup of tea, not necessarily everyone's nor is it any better, just newer and mo spensive. Has all the same weak leafs, whistling windshields and folding tailgate's as everyone elses

Ugly or not they still be Toyotas so they're still better than the other stuff. I believe in function over form so reliability and toughness can trump how it looks. I just prefer the rounder face on the 05-11s & it hasn't grown on me yet.
