I get the principle of what shocks do and even said, in an extreme case they might affect tire wear but they would have to be providing almost no resistance meaning the shock would be acting as a coil guide and that's it (even then I'm not convinced it would wear the tire unevenly). Alignment, balancing and tire pressure have a much bigger influence on tire wear than the shocks. If those 3 things were done correctly, driving around with blown shocks is more of a safety issue than a tire wear concern. The coil keeps the tire planted, the shock only absorbs the rebound from the coil when you hit a bump in the road. I could be wrong, but I'm not seeing it... :notsure:

Edit: Brett's post got me to dig a little deeper into the interwebz...

Foglights are for fog, not oncoming traffic!
The British use the correct term for shocks...dampers.
They dampen the energy exerted by the tire reacting to irregularities in the road and dampen the rebound of the spring.
Brett...what's your connection to Wild Ginger?

I'm a bit of a wild Ginger myself, and unfortunately my only connection to the real Wild Ginger is the fact that I love their food!

The rt front shock is leaking on my 06 2wd access cab.
The service mngr called it a "strut".
I am looking for info on replacing both sides.
    Is this a DIY project?
