Satoshi materials?

I might attempt to do the Satoshi myself, but I just wanted to know what materials are needed to do so. This would be my first time using bondo, but the local parts store has different kinds of "bondo". So Im not sure if I picked out the right stuff. Anybody that has done this before, please let me know if Im good to go (see pics below)....

Oh yeah, what else do I buy as far as sandpaper and spray paint?

 

thats the bondo i used. make sure you pick up the fiber glass resin. some spreaders as well

 

whats the fiber glass resin... is that another kind of bondo? or do i use that in addition to what i bought?

As you you new to the Satoshi process, there's several very excellent how to threads, with lots of detailed pics on TW, just search for "Satoshi".

This is not a hard process, but take your time, allow things to cure/dry for each step as you proceed.

Beside the bondo you'll need fiberglass cloth, fiberglass resin, several grades of sand paper, primer and the color coat of your choice. Again the process is completely explained with text and pics in the how-to posts on TW.

ya i searched for it but couldnt find a "how to" on the 1st page. i didnt really want to go thru hella pages just to find it.

ya i had talked to Homer already and was in line to get a grill from him. but im kinda broke at the moment so Im now deciding to do the labor myself

 

just ordered a 2008 grill from partsgeek. hope its a good fit on my 2011....

do yourself a huge favor too and if you go out and buy a dremel buy one that is corded. The battery sucked on mine and i had to wait almost every 20 minutes becuase it would die.

 

im probably just gonna use a hand saw

search for homertaco's threads. He had a bunch of pictures I used when I did mine. Another option to fill the sides rather then fiberglass is to use some of the plastic from the center piece you cut out. basically just tracing a piece to fit inside and then putting another piece of plastic behind it to add strength and hold it in place. Then after the epoxy or whatever is cured, you can sand it down and apply some bondo. Or you can forgo the fill process entirely and do a thin lip version. Thats what I did. And on another note... homertaco also sells mesh. Heres how mine turned out.

and this part i circled is completly worth it and always saves trouble, its a flexible attachment thats about 1-1/2 - 2 ft long

There is a guy from a local truck store (Truck Outfitters, Calgary, AB) who has an X-Runner and he did the Satoshi grill but staggered with a chrome mesh behind the black. Looks so cool when you walk from left to right as it starts to look 3D if that makes sense. Just an idea....
