It is based on The Nissan Frontier, so essentially it is the same concept as the previous Explorer and mountaineer etc

To me, it looks like a frontier attempted to take the 05-11 Tacoma front end and failed...

hm there must be more in Canada than 700... I see them quite often here. Never knew it was a frontier though, found the resemblance to the Tacoma though!

I think the Equator is slightly better looking than my Taco and and much better looking than my previous truck (Frontier) which is pictured below:

Why can't Toyota make round wheel wells? The tires are round.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
I actually saw my first Equator when I went home from college this past Friday, they are not nearly as common as Rangers and Tacomas are around here.

You are right. They are pretty scarce. The sales numbers have been very disappointing for Suzuki. I'm not sure what they were expecting though. They got Nissan to build a truck for them knowing that the Frontier is the slowest selling compact truck currently in production.

Yep! And the Tacoma will probably always remain at the top, since Ford axed the Ranger, and GM is axing the Colorado/Canyon in 2013 I think, there wont really be much competition for favorite pickup, I am pretty sure I heard rumor that Mopar plans to axe the Dakota in the near future as well but am not for sure. Sadly the compact/midsize truck market seems to be dying out, I hope Toyota keeps the Tacoma in production, they really need to consider returning to a actual compact truck though, one that is capable of getting around 30mpg, but I dont even know if there would be a market for those either.

True enough. The Dakota is done but is rumored to return as a unibody pickup (garbage) based on the new Durango platform. I would also like to see a true Toyota mini truck but I doubt Toyota would downsize while current sized Tacomas sell well and sales numbers should climb with the Ranger and Colorado/Canyon being eliminated. Ford sells a zillion Rangers and those buyers will go somewhere. BTW the tiny dealer in Tifton Ga has about 10 new Tacos in stock so they gotta be selling well.
