ok i found my truck does not have a alarm! :(

so anyways saving for a viper. with remote start and 2 way remote.

was wondering what viper alarm do you have and how do you like it?
    edit: i’m really looking at model# 5202V (at a $480) and #5702V (@ $600)

p.s keep the off topic out. lets try and make this a good thread that people will want to read if they are looking for a viper. and not make a bunch more threads. (i searched and could not find much other than people getting them)

Ive got a Viper model 1000 alarm. its an old one, but it does the job (you cant really prevent anything from happening)

It comes with an alarm that has a battery enclosed in the siren, so if they unhook the battery or cut wires to the siren it will keep going off.

I wanted the remote start stuff, but Ive heard the battery of those key remotes run out quick, plus i live in california, not cold enough to have to warm up the truck.

Also if you get the remote start stuff, make sure its installed by a reputable place. A buddy got it installed by some random place and one day his truck wouldnt cut off after he removed the key and other wierd electrical things happened to him LOL

yeah i know i can’t stop it 100% but i want to protect my shet (what stuff i have in side) the best i can. and about only time i would use the start is in winter. defrost the windows and get it nice and warm. and i think i’m going to go to best buy. their install price is really good. i think my friend said it’s like $30 for alarms.

those are the ones i was looking at. and i liked the 2 i listed more than the others and was wondering how people liked them. just trying to do some research before i spend over $400 on an alarm/remote start.

how is the LCD screen on the fob? i think thats about the only difference between the 2 i like most. is it worth the extra $120 or so?

I have an older version of the current 5701. The system works very well. There are two minor problems. The battery life of the 2way key fob is around 6 months. The battery door and the key fob body are plastic and break pretty easily. Use care when replacing the battery.

The two way responder is really a nice option. You get a visual confirmation that the truck is locked or opened when you cannot hear the audiable confirmation.

I have the viper 5704 same as 5901 just newer. 2 way remote, remote start, keyless entry. All the normal stuff. Works great bought it from eBay from a company called wholesale alarms. They sell brand new unopened viper system. I paid about $240.00 shipped.
