Used 5 coats of Krylon on mine. Didnt take in account i live in a humid enviroment( Gulf of Mexico) and trapped humidity inside. Do this in doors. Had to use the Range Rover method of relieving condinsation. 2 holes and inserted 2 tubes to create a draft. All is good and beats disassembly. Good luck
