Couldn't you torch it? Can't say I have much experience with cables like this. But I see a nice hot torch and some pliers and I think it would give..

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
Yeah with acetylene. How suspicious would you look carrying around a bottle of oxy and one of acetylene just to rob cats?

Our trucks have 4 cats...the bottom aft 2 are the one's being ripped off. After reading about this happening a few years back I had a plate fabbed up. It's removable and attaches to the two threaded holes in the frame and the cross member useing hardware that a normal wrench or socket won't work on. I added additional heat protection around the wires to the sensors and made sure the design allowed for good air flow. It's been on for 3 years now with no problems.

If someone's rolling around with a reciprocator stealing catalytic converters I'm sure they would have bolt cutters too which would go right through that cable

Happened to my 3rd gen 4Runner when I used to live in Tulsa, OK with all of the meth heads.

Ironically I was parked at work - where we had tens of millions of dollars worth of catalytic converters in the warehouse inside...

Guess you just need an alarm sensor of some sort under there and some cold blue steel?!

Or you could just slam it!

    I believe they are.

The ECU looks at the the rear 02's, to make sure they are not matching the fronts. If they do match the fronts (voltage wise,) then you get the flashing CEL and a catalytic converter trouble code.

this was my concern. I have a Mustang as a toy and had to get my tuner to shut the rear o2's down (open up the parameters) so it would not throw the CEL when i changed out the midpipe. I still have to put my cats back on for emmissions though. Most of the time they do a visual, i assume that is because of how loud the car is and since it is a mustang they expect them not to be there.

swapping the mid pipe is a pain, and i don't want that hassle with the truck too.

That is what i have been looking at. From looking at it, the driver's side cat and oil pan hang about 1" lower than the frame, so i have to find someone with a sheet metal brake. I figured that and bolt it in with torx bolts, still up in the air as to cutting an access hole for the oil drain, or just dropping the whole plate each time. The air flow is a bit of a concern - wondering if maybe a few rows of 1" holes might work

The y-pipe from URD has resonators in the pipe which look like cats. They'd have to disassemble the exhaust to check them.
No it doesn't. There are no sensors after the rear cats. Bank 1 and Bank 2 refer to the sides of the vehicle. Bank 1 meaning the side of the motor with the #1 cylinder.

OBDII codes are generic and do not apply to all vehicles.

These are the only codes that a 1GR equipped Tacoma will throw.
