OK i wasnt sure if this would go in 2nd gen forum or offroading and trails so i just took a shot.
I need help deciding on skids for my truck. the truck is an '11 dcsb 4x4 sr5. im wanting to get a good front skid first and as i can set the money aside do the rest. the question is "which brand skids do i get?"

that is where i need your help. tell me good bad and indifferent views of the skids out there. personal experience and such. do i go bud built, ATO, Allpro, Relentless, metalmiller, or maybe someone i am missing.

ive noticed the prices run around the same thing and most all are 3/16" plate. so i need to know what seperates one from another and why i should choose product "a" over product "b"

as always thanks fro all the help and insight and i look forward to seeing the ideas you guys and gals bring to the table!!

There are many threads associated with this question that have been around for a long time so I would suggest you search and post questions in them.

The way you will be using your truck will dictate what brand is best for you.

For overall brutal punishment ATO, IMO is the best. No one offers a 1/4" IFS standard....all the others offer 3/16" standard with a 1/4" (HD) model. You will also notice the new guys designs are very familiar to ATO's.

You will need to re-route your Y pipe for ATO and be sure the crossmember does NOT line up directly with the exhaust flange should you choose to get a bolt on DT Y pipe instead of getting a local shop to do the re-route.

i appreciate the info and believe it or not have spent many hours worth of reading those "older" threads. but when you ask a question in one of those brand loyalty generally overshadows any "technical stories". granted i know that i set this thread up to possibly do the same but i also was hoping i could get the feedback from those taht have the newer sets and designs of some of these skids as well as views from possibly those that have had different brands to give comparison.

As much as I've bent them to hell, I like the BudBuilt skidplate design. They're the only ones that protect the LCA mounts from impact.

I have yet to install my ATO's from the recent group buy, but those things are SOLID. Happy I went with them, as will be my Tacoma's underside.

If Bud made 1/4" thick skids in the design you have I would be in heaven.

Less mud and crap getting stuck in the IFS + after rebuilding my LCA's I would rather not slam the cams into a rock like I can now with mine exposed.
