Mine is mounted bottom left hand side of the windshield, just touches the dash. Probably not the best location but it is out of the way and you don't see it. I don't speed, I use it as a reminder, keeps me honest.

So the next time we meet.....and it ain't to just shoot the shit....what's a suggested course of action? Engine off, hands on the steering wheel? Do you want to hear our "oh, but I'm late for yoga class" excuses? Or would you rather hear "I know - fast as fuck - that's me today - sorry - I won't do it again?" I'm hoping to get a warning, of course!

Oh wait - I know - "Hey man! You drive a Tacoma?!" :taco:

Sorry OP - pushing this thread across the double line. I promise to shut up now.

I have an Escort 8500 X50 along with the Escort Live application. The EL application is like social networking for radar detectors. If I get hit with laser or Ka, the app will flag the location in the app. If someone else running the app comes along, their detector will alert them that a cop is / was present. The flag will change colors based on the amount of time that has expired. Way cool!

I use a single large suction cup holder sold by Escort under my rear view mirror and it works great.

You never want to mount the detector on the "dots" as it will interfere with detection.

I did a lot of research prior to buying mine. If it's not an Escort, Bel, or Valentine, your wasting your money.

I had no clue why i was being stopped. pulled in to the back side of the restraint and parked. he asked if i new why i was being stopped i said no sir i do not. told me why. asked me wear i was coming from and wear i was going told him he asked if i turned them on at windy’s i said yes, i even checked them like 3 times. ran my stuff and cave me a verbal warning. idk if it helped at all or not but i had my frosty in my lap lol so i know he new i was not lying about wear i came from. only time i have been pulled over in like 4 years.:D

oh yea, and if I see a radar during a stop, its an automatic ticket. fyi.

I've often sat behind vehicles at stop lights at night and clicked my radar on and off...I could see their radar detector and the strength light go on and off, as I clicked my unit on and off. It was dark and they wouldn't often not know that there was a cop sitting behind them. I had to chuckle, because it was harmless fun messing with their minds. :D

    Sir, I salute you.

I know this guy who keeps saying his radar detector has saved him from SO MANY speeding tickets. And I keep trying to tell him that's not true, because when they can take you in for a DUI they almost never write you a speeding ticket in addition.

For shits and giggles my partner and I would sit on a busy street with an old broken hair dryer and watch motorists slam on their brakes. ahhhh good times....good times.

If you run the numbers, an hour trip at 80 MPH vs 70 MPH gets you there about 8 1/2 minutes earlier. Shorter trips make the risk of speeding pay off even less. Since I've decided to keep it within 5 around town and 10 on the highway, it makes trips much more relaxed. The stories from friends on Rescue squads help too.
