I am new to posting but have used CT, TN, and searched alot on this forum. I just sold my last taco with a 6in lift and 33s. I bought a new 2012 and wanted to keep it simple- as much lift as i can w/o the need for UCAs and harsh CV angles. So I narrowed it down to these two- 5100s at 1.75 or OME 884. From my understanding lifting the front around 2inchs should not require UCAs and alignment should be all good. I know the 884s "settle" and lift height can vary. And I read mixed reviews as to 884s aligning properly....

So, if anyone can confirm that the ome 884 on a AC v6 4x4 taco with a snugtop cap give me a 2 in lift in the front or would it be higher- therefore running the risk of me having problems with alignment? And anyone running just 884s- did your alignment fall with in factory spec w/o UCAs? I dont want to go over 2.5 inches.

And my last concern is with just 884s in the front and TSB in the rear- would having a camper top shell make me somewhat nose high (in which case I would go with a 1.5 aal)....

    Thanks

Uh, either 884s or 5100s at 1.75 is probably going to leave you a bit nose-high with TSB springs and camper shell.

884 springs on a V6 truck is a very good bet to be able to get a perfect alignment with stock control arms.

I was thinking the same thing- that the camper would cause the rear to sag from the extra 150lbs or so and instead of a level look- it will b nose high.

My other option is a 1.5 aal but that prob won't level it and leave me with a rake. Too bad they don't make 1" aal. Don't want to use blocks...

I estimated that the camper would lower the height of the rear about .5 inch. So if 884 gives me a solid two inches in the front, a 1.5in aal with the camper would bring me up to 1in. So that's a 1in diff between the front and back. And from what I read, u need about a 2in diff to level the truck. Anybody know of a 1in aal or shackle....?

I just put on 884's with 5100's last weekend. I don't have tsb but I took it out of the garage to turn the truck around and do the rear, and the truck was WAY nose high. I ended up putting on the wheeler's three aal and kept the stock rake. I got exactly 2" so you'll probably get a little more than that.

Im in the same boat kinda... got 5100s in front @ 1.75 and it still sits 3/4 inch higher in the rear... no snugtop or anything... Im looking at getting 844s to bring me up a little more (hopefully 2 inches exactly). Plus the 5100s with the offroad springs the ride kinda sucks. From what i read the 884s are my best bet for a little more lift without UCA issues

Do you have a pic of the truck from the side- so i can get an idea of the rake. My camper maybe enough to correct the rake you have...so i might just have to go with the 5100s, but I prefer the 884s.....

I just did 884 about 2 weeks ago on my 2012 DCSB... it put me right at 2" and level with the rear TSB. I did OME shocks all around to keep it all OME. I checked my CV angles, very mild. I didn't do UCA yet and probably won't for awhile.

I'll try to get some pics from the side soon along with some measurements.

I'm gonna do a shell too, not sure when but I know I'll have to mess with the rear at that time. I was thinking if I was sagging 1/2 to 3/4" after adding the shell, I would remove the overload and add a 1.5" AAL and it should level out or be close enough.

I think the 5100s at 1.75 might not be enough and at 2.5" would be too much(and might need ucas). If the 884s give a solid 2"-2.25", there shouldn't be any alignment issues requiring UCAs.

So, looks like my best bet is to get the 884s and install the snugtop camper(which is coming in around April). And if the rear sags too much, I can just install some 1.5" aal to bring it up and hopefully the aal and weight of the camper will level it out with the 884 springs in the front...

That would be the most cost effective way and easy, as I can just install the aal at home. I also believe that if you lift the rear, no alignment is needed right? Only if you mess with the front. So i wouldn't need to go back to the shop and pay anyone for an another Alignment or install IF i decide the rear will need a AAL...
