How bad is it really?

Wife drove my truck around town running errands on mostly dry pavement with small, I stress small, patches of ice in 4x4 putting on roughly 6 miles while doing so. How hard was this on the truck given the parking in angle parking spots and many turns she would have to take in our town, and how can I be certain there was no real damage done?

 

I would say probably not nearly as hard as you think. She would have noticed it bucking if the drive train was binding. I'm sure she'd have said something.

 

its not good dude you should only be using 4x4 on consistently slippery surfaces. i say its not good cause if she was in and out of parking spots about town thats turning the wheel on dry pavement thats what can really kill you binding in the drive train and the like.

 

I'm sure you're ok as long as she wasn't flying around town

 

question is, how did she get out of the kitchen?

 

Of course this is all just going to be opinion, but I'd suspect not much if any.
I drive mine at least 10 miles each month in 4x4 as the owners manual states. Of course I always reserve that for rainy days, and I don't make any real tight turns. Been doing that for over 6 years now.

If nothing has broke or snapped, don't worry about it. Just tell to be more careful next time, while stressing that if she feels that she needs it for safety then she shouldn't be afraid to use it.

Since you have stock suspension it's likely toast. You will need to replace the front coilovers and UCA's along with the rear leafs and shocks at a bare minimum, maybe even more. She broke it, she should pay to fix it.

 

I guess with all that kitchen pay she gets she might never pay it off. You might have to resort her to sexual favours.

I wouldn't think too bad if it didn't break anything. I use to have to use 4x4 to pull my boat out of our barn, on asphalt and it was a sharp turn after that (rear wheels had no traction in the situation...every time). Never hurt it, but after reading here, I have since moved what part of the barn my boat is in so I dont have to use it

 

I wouldn't worry about it, as long as it was not on solid dry asphalt it should be fine.
