So coming home tonight, I turn onto my road (i live in the mountains) and as im turning a fuckin deer jumps out, I fuckin freak out and try to avoid it, my truck slides out and i fuckin end up taking out two aspen trees and smashing into another.

It looks like i need a bumper, Grill, Headlight trim, and my hood bent back... I dont know if i should report to my insurance company or just fix it myself. If i only need a grill and bumper and headlight trim it'd be great, But im afraid i whacked my fender out of line...

What do you guys think i should do?

    Check Build Thread!!
The bumper has a styrofoam like backing to crumple and take impacts, that doesn't look near back enough to have dented anything important. You'll find out when you take it off

FYI - how insurance works for us here in Canada - if you made contact with the deer it's an act of god. If you did not then it's your own fault.

Same here, hit a deer it falls under comprehensive insurance which usually has a much lower deductable and won't affect your rates if you report something. I'd find out how your policy is written before you decide to get insurance involved. I whacked a deer in an old Ford, it did $900 in damage and all I had to pay was $50 and my rates stayed the same.

I hit a deer in my old colorado a few years back, spun off the highway, rolled it into a deep ditch wrote the truck off, they paid me $7000 more then i paid for the truck 3 days before and didn't increase rates. $7000 including the $1000 deductible. Talk about having a horseshoe up my ass.. I was fretting for 2 weeks until they threw a # at me..

The comp deductable is something you decide on or you and your insurance agent decide on. Its something to pay attention to. They ususally start the same as your collision deductable. I think I have mine at $250 or $100 but I know its low. However you are better off hitting the deer since it should fall under a comp claim as apposed to avoiding the deer and hitting a tree that is depending on how your insurance policy is written probably considered a collision claim which means your rates will probably go up unless you are with a carrier that has accident forgiveness or something along those lines.

    this...^^^

and if you report it to insurance take the check and fix it yourself.

My truck has been in a couple "incidents" and none were reported. I was literally beating my rad supports back with a BFH and wood blocks :)

1/2 my front end is still held together with zip ties.

If your up to it and have the know-how your damage doesn't look much worse then mine. Strip it down and check it real good.

I did the same thing, but no trees I hit the deer knocked his ass down and wasn't able to run him over before he got up and ran off, I just used a hammer and it was my reason to my GF to get a after market grill in my old tacoma which is the same thing as my new tacoma with out the trd, just watch the airbag sensors just pull it back to normal not that i think about I'm embarrassed to say i also ran into a tree in a parking look not going very fast but it was enough for me to hit the horn and draw attention to myself.. like and idiot but that did no damage granted i was maybe doing 10
