Satoshi build!

Day 1:

Started with a stock chrome grille. Then did some chopping.



Used a sawzall to cut everything out. Then sanded everything down



For the open cuts, we decided to use plastic pieces out of the center cut out, and plastic weld them on. Unfortunately, work gets in the way of the fun and that will come tomorrow. More pics up then

Day 2:

Bought fiberglass, bondo, and the metal....

We started with cutting plastic pieces to fill in the holes out of the center of the grill we cut out:



and fitted them



Then we molded and cut the metal. We decided not to zip tie it in. Instead we bent it and cut it to slid right in, then we're going to either glass it in or use epoxy.



Then test fitted it in



Then it was time to put the plastic pieces in and fiberglass the back



Some bondo action...



Well after three days of shitty weather we got started again....

Day 3: Sanded the bondo down



Then started with the top



While waiting for the bondo to dry, we painted the metal gloss black



Then after the bondo dried, we sanded it down, made it smooth and primed



Day 4:
Started the day by sanding down the chrome with 220 grit paper



After that we preped the area for painting, and starting spraying. We went with a krylon fusion in gloss black. Decided it was probably the best paint for the surface. Came out way better than I hoped



Day 5:
Relocated the horns on day 4, took a pic today



So we molded the mesh and glassed it in to finish up yesterday. Then it was complete



Took off the stock grill



Comparing the plastidipped grill to the satoshi...



Then threw in the satoshi! I couldnt be happier with how it turned out. Time to get some lights.

Will take alot more pics tomorrow. Figured the chopping was boring and basic

 

Another grill to come after this one is complete.

Thanks man. Yeah Ill get more up tomorrow when we finish up. Its nice having two people work on it....while he sanded I got to install some bilsteins in the back! No more sr5 shocks
