    Not enough.
Probably was just showing off...that's gotta hurt the ego.

To add, maybe he wasn't used to flying in high altitude mountainous regions. Maybe the thinner air reduced his climb rate and he couldn't recover in time??

They must be pretty high in elevation. The helo didn't have enough lift to perform the maneuvers that he could have easily done at a lower altitude.

At elevation maybe and didn't have the power to hold altitude and was too low? Got into ground effect?

Ground effect is a good thing...

That guy just ran outta control authority...Too much maneuvering with too little air to maneuver in. High altitude makes even benign maneuvers tough...That's a downer tho...Glad no one was killed-but those things aren't cheap.

either way, i can guarantee you that he was hot dogging. no way or reason why he should be flying that low over a base unless he was landing. and if he was landing, he was definitely doing it wrong. by the way, i do work on these helicopters and see how they fly around bases. and yes, these things suck in thin air

He's lucky to be alive, you see how that thing was spinning after he contacted the ground!?! Scary.

Hazarding/Damaging Gov't Property and/or reckless ops, and a few "catch all" - Failure to obey, conduct unbecoming, etc would be my best guess...But the lawyers make those decisions.
