I did this last week, and in response to someone asking in the first couple of pages "Does that mess up the paint", I picked up a set of Insulated Clamps from my local home depot, although they don't have it on their website for some reason.

I took the rubber parts of the clamps and put it on the hose clamp... the widths were the same size so they fit really well, and I didn't have to trim anything to get it to fit.

The Hose Clamp cost me $1.15 and the insulated clamps cost me another $1.57

    Hey Guys,
We see alot of guys worried about the paint under the clamp. It's under the clamp . Don't vapor lock lock. It remindes me of what my dad use to say about people who use to put plastic covers on their liveing room furniture. He asked ,"Who are they protecting them for? The naxt owmers ?"

I know no picture and it didn't happen. I had a Taco buddy find his tailgate hanging from the hindges. Looks like someone unhooked the cables, had a hose clamp stop him.... got pissed and dropped the tailgate on the bumper. Still had his tailgate and couple nice dents.

I added this along with a clamp on the hinge to prevent that from happening.

Picture link broke, but if it's the one I'm thinking of it will rust quickly if you live in a humid climate.

Not to jump to conclusions... but he/she may have had theirs replaced and never colour matched it yet.

... ^^^ .... I know someone who bought back their own tailgate on Craig's List ... but they could not prove it 100% to the police.

Watch C/L and you might be surprised what you will find ...

Great Idea, thanks. I didn't have a clamp around the shop, at least one I could find, used a heavy duty zip tie, they don't get cut very easy and I'm not out much if I ever do have to cut it off.
