TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SENSORS

I have a set of 16 off-road oem alloy rims ,will the sensors from them fit the 17 oem alloy rims w/o having to rotate them 180 degrees ? Becuz I know in some the sensors are 20 degrees and 40 degrees.

 

Yes, the TPMS for Toyota alloy wheels are all 20 degree sensors unless stated otherwise. The steel wheels use the 40 degree sensors. As long as you aren't switching between alloy and steel you should be fine. You might want to get a gasket kit for the sensors though to make sure there are no leaks

 

So what your saying is that since I plan to upgrade my OEM steelies to alloy rims the TPS sensors wont swap over? How about if I just take then sensors, wrap them in bubble rap and place them inside the pressurized spare tire? I do realize they would be destroyed if I ever used the spare.

There are several ways to go changing from steelies to alloys.
1. Rotate sensors 180 degrees.
2. Pipe Bomb
3. Wheelbarrow tire/spare tire
4. Rim bands
5. Buy super expensive toyota rebuild kit.
6. Buy tire shop no so expensive sensor rebuild kit.

OEM alloy swaps one for one.

 

Can you use TPMS sensors from another Trd sport truck? My brother has an 06 sport and needs new tires. I have a 12' sport and am getting new rims and tires and my tires are practically brand new. Can I just trade my set with him and swap his TPMS into my new rims and he just take my stocks?
