This is where I would go I tried to stay in your budget but in order to get solid performance and upgrade ability this is the Total Cost after rebates 802.93 with 16GB of ram. I know it is over your stated wishes of price, however when I spec out machines I look at future upgrading. If anything though I would go with the I5 mother board combo and then use your own hardware choices from there. I am sure others here will either agree or disagree with my choices. I was given very sage advice long ago when I used to drag race by my grandfather and it holds true in a lot of things.

“Speed Is In Direct Relation To The Size Of Your Wallet”

Diablo 3 Does not support SLI at this time just checked..

    Case: $60.00 After Rebate $50.00

    I have two 900’s they make some solid cases with ease of use MB trays etc and come with fans for the top and front. Its all about the COOLING for gaming.:}

    750w Power Supply 89.99 After rebate 69.99
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371051

This is the min I would go if you run two video cards step up to 1k watts as with less power there is likely to be issues.

Mother Board and Cpu Combo $366.98
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.882275

Intel Core i5-2500 Sandy Bridge 3.3GHz (3.7GHz Turbo Boost) LGA 1155 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics 2000 BX80623I52500</SPAN>

Comes with CPU fan again its all about cooling

    Memory: 48.99 After rebate 38.99
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820104231

You can start with one set for 8gb if you can I would go with two for a total of 16gb

    Video $139.00 after rebate $119.99
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150573

I would run one and see how it performs as I said support for SLI or CrossFire is limited .

    Hard drive $80.99
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136775

I agree with the others SSD is the way to go but with in your stated price this is where I would go or your original choice I am just partial to WD.

    CD / DVD $37.00

I like Plextor for its quiet running and stability with various media manufacturers.

Hope this helps good luck with your build,

As everyone has stated I would go with two hard drives. If you can swing the cost of an SSD for your OS then great but if you can't I would at least get two drives. I would also get 16 gigs of RAM. The motherboard you picked can handle 32 gigs and RAM is cheap nowadays.

I didn't look at the case but I am assuming it has a power supply with it. I didn't see a price for an OS disc so I assume you already have that as well.

    Just my thoughts,

Case - $75 (not sure if 450W is enough)
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.877309

    HD - $110
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148591

    RAM - $75
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233189

    CPU - $185
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115089

    Motherboard - $100
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130648

Go with whatever DVD drive you want, and the graphics card you had picked is nice too. That total is about $700, and I bet you can find it all on sale over the next few weeks.

Thanks Cyph! and thanks so far to everyone else. I don't think I'll jump on the SSD yet. Most likely I will along down the road. I think I'll take everyone's advice and get the i5 CPU/MOBO Combo Cyph linked me to. But, I think I'll keep the rest of my stuff I had already picked out. I don't plan to hardcore game, so I don't think I'll need a huge PSU or a high dollar case.

Do yourself a favor and partition your big HDD into two. Make the first one 128GB (C drive). And use the rest for the D: partition. Put your OS and commonly used apps on your C, and big stuff on the D. That way, if and when you pick up an SSD, you can clone the C partition over to the SSD, and away you go.
Also, if your OS shits the bed on you, you can wipe, re-install and still have all your data on your D partition.

Khx73 is correct split your drive into two partitions load one with only programs and the other data. Make sure you make the proper adjustments to default saving locations in your programs like office and IE etc. However, I will caution you if the drive crashes your out your data and programs. So either invest in a small usb drive and use it as an alternate data back up or get a smaller secondary hard drive and set it as your back up location using win7's integeral back up routines.

Okay, I keep making and remaking builds lol. I think finding parts is more fun than playing the games on the computer, lol. Here is what I have. I'll be buying my CPU locally though, so that's why I had to add stuff on Newegg to reach the required $500 for the plan.
