I know this topic has been beat to death, but I just got my rear TSB done and I realized I no longer have my bilsteins on my TRD Sport. They are now black shocks. Is this normal for the TSB? I read that TRD didn't need the shocks replaced, so I wanted to make sure this was normal or if I should take it back to the dealership and have them fix this!

    Thanks in advance!

Take it back and tell them to take those cheap Tokiko shocks off and give you back your Bilsteins!

Yep, Whipper is right, they screwed the pooch on that one. I had the TSB done and still have my bilsteins.

Dude they robbed you. Go back and get your stuff back.
When I went to get the 4 Leaf pack they put in "NEW" 3 leaf packs, I had to show them that they where wrong and after they ordered the 4 pack called me and finally installed them right way!!!

If they messed up and won't fix their mistake, call Toyota Customer Service. This is a fairly stupid screw up, there was no reason for them to even touch the rear shocks, let alone downgrade them...

OP - If by chance this is the guy who worked on your truck, I have an idea about them. ;-)

Hope the dealer gets it right for you. Odds are against you though in the dealer universe.

At least you should get some new billies out of the deal...

The TSB work I had done I made sure they had the correct part numbers on order before signing the paperwork...

I had the same thing happen to me. I'm headed to the dealer today for them to check it out and order parts. I'm going to try to walk out of there with some swag for my inconvenience...

get the dealer to FIX THEIR MISTAKE. Even if it is a pain in the ass and takes months. I had to threaten my dealer and nearly take them to court... as soon as I said that I would be getting a lawyer, it was fixed within 4 days at no cost to me, and that included having to order and ship parts.

I would get your shocks switched back OP

It's too bad you have to go through such a hassle to replace the crap Toyota 3 leaf pack with the crap Toyota 4 leaf pack

    Same thing happened to me

The first page has the 05-08 TSB parts list, which includes new shocks and leafs
The second page has the 09-11 TSB parts list, which instructs them to only replace the leafs...

I was quite pissed off when I came back to discover my trd had non trd parts installed...

Hopefully they still have your old billys there. They should, as all TSB parts have to be sent to Toyota, and not just thrown away...

Either way the truck should roll out of the TSB with TRD Billies. The 2005 - 2008 version has them switch the Tokikos for Bilsteins. Swapping in Tokiko shocks is just a bonehead move on the tech's part or a dealership trying to do something shady.

get your billies back or make them buy new ones, DON'T let them put them back on, charge them $100 for your labor to put them back on. , ie I am guessing the don't have your shocks anymore because they either a) threw them out or b) put them on one of their trucks, basically charge them $400 for parts and labor and never go back
