Well I had to replace the drivers side CV joint so I decided to go ahead replace the front brakes, clean & pack the wheel bearings all at the same time. New rotors, brake pads & I rebuilt the calipers myself. It was a first time for me to rebuilt a caliper, but the kits where only$10 each & it was pretty self explanitory.

    Caliper partially done

New inner seals & piston caps.

Everything done, both sides, New CV's & brakes with ball joint spacers installed.

Todd & Andy came over last night to help me make some progress on the 4runner. Thanks guys! We got a bunch of stuff done. First off I bead blasted the wheel spacers I got on loan & installed them, finally was able to get it off of the jack stands.
We installed the new idler arm & then set out to bleed the brakes. The rears where giving us some trouble so we decided to pull the drums & try to adjust them. Found that the lovely mud from Alto had gotten into the drums & destroyed my brake shoes. A quick trip to Oreily's an $12.99 later & we where swapping out brake shoes.

After: brake pedal feels much better

It's pretty hard to get a good pic of the trucks new stance with the BJ spacers in the garage, but it looks really good. I ended up making the spacers 1-7/8" tall, but my measurement from the ground to the bottom of the front fender went from 35-1/4" to 37-7/8". I 'm sure it will settle some. I haven't installed the rear shackles, but after we disscussed it last night, we all agree that the stance looks good as is. I am thinking about removing the AAL & then putting the Shackles in.

I'll let you be the judge as to how it looks with out the shackles, It does for 100% sure already have an AAL in the rear. Look at the relationship between the rubber side molding & the rear wheel well vs. the front wheel well. Bro rake????

This pic shows how far the front tires stick out with the wheel spacers, however I now have plenty of clerance between the tire & UCA.

Took the 4runner to BVORR this past weekend. Right out of the hole I had the same trans problems as last time. It just wouldn't pull. Todd brought his cousin Brent who just so happened to be a former long time Toyots & Lexus tech. I took him for a ride & he knew what the problem was right away. The detent cable was way out of adjustment & not allowing enough fluid pressure on the clutches. With a little investigating we determined that the metal crimp on end of the cable sheath had pulled way out & I was just over an inch of cable adjustment from where I was supposed to be. I need a new cable, but with a little muscle, a few bad words & a bunch of zip-ties, we had the trans working great. I am extremely grateful that Brent was there, I might have never figured that out. After that I was very happy with how the Creampuff did on the trails. The locker was awesome & really made the difference when climbing those rediculously steep hills.

I have a few pics that I will post of the trip soon.

Thanks, it is coming along slowly. I can't wait to get those tires. Trying to talk a buddy out of a set of original alum. wheels to put them on. I have he steelies that came on it, but would rather get the other wheels if I can for cheap. Also going to try & pick up some new shocks soon. Since the BJ spacers, the shocks are the limiting the flex by at least 1" of droop.

Thanks Chris, it was pretty easy actually. I can't take much credit because Keith did the actual spraying.

I needed some 15" wheels to put the new tires I am supposed to pick up this weekend on. Was planning on using the stock steelies untill I ran into a really sweet deal on these. I traded a guy at work even..my steel wheels with fucked up tires for his aluminum wheels with fucked up tires. I am pretty suprised at how nice of shape these are in, they need to be cleaned up a bit, but the clearcoat is still intact & no dings. Pretty good trade IMO.

they are not my first wheel choice, but for basically free, they are nicer than the other option I had. Now I am really wondering if the 33's are going to fit, or rub like a fat chick in corduroy.

I had my alternator repaired a few months ago, but it took another shit. I returned it to the guy who fixed it last time & was told that it was F-ed beyond repair. I was thinking about converting it to a GM 1 wire but I found this on TTORA & jumped on it, was a little more than I wanted to spend, but I was ablr to talk him dowm a little & it is plug & play. I pay-pal'd him last night & will be making the short drive (60 miles) to get it tomorrow. I hope to have this thing back out on the trail this Sunday so I really don't have time to do the conversion anyways.

I got the new alternator installed, it def. charges stronger than the original one. Here is a pic from last weekend that I liked.

Thanks, I am really happy with the paint job. I tested it's sratch resistance also, not even a trace of a scratch. That paint is tough shit!

I am sure we can find a place. My buddy at the yota ranch has some IFS 488 and 529 gears for your front diff if you want a set Brand new $100 for either of them. He said they werent going anywhere soon. No potential buyers :)

Did you see my post on the cheap Chevy 63" springs I am going to check them out on Friday. Ill pick you up a set if they are cheap enough.

I'll for sure take a set of 4.88 gears! That would be sweet, probably need a week to recover from buying the tires but tell him that he has a potential buyer. I'll take the 63's also if the price is nice. Let me know how much.
