I'm glad to see some interest in this project, here is the rest of the story for those of you who don't know....

My DD is an 05 d-cab long bed sport PRERUNNER, I love my truck, but I also have the off-road bug. It is in great shape & has most of the mods that I could really see throwing at it. I have been looking for something cheap that I could wheel. I am on a tight budget & don't expect this build to be fast, I will be working on it as I can afford to.

The 4runner is an 86 4x4 with an automatic. I have always liked the removeable hardtops! The body is damn near perfect, it has one small dent under the passenger side tail light, but otherwise is strait & rust free. The original color is blue but the previous owner rattle canned it drab green, I will probably turn it into camo. I am not sure how to explain the tailgate situation so we will just say that it is missing along with the back seat & a couple of interior panels.

It doesn't exactly run at the moment, I need to get a battery for it but I have put jumper cables to it & it turns over great. I know the guy I bought it from so the history is known. It ran about a year ago, but has a leaky fuel injector, I am pretty sure that I just need to remove & clean the injectors, replace the O-rings, a little clean fuel in the tank & it should run. The fuel tank & pump are both brand new, and so are the plugs & wires.

The brakes pretty much don't work at all. I am sure they will work a little better when it is running & the booster has some vaccume, but right now......nothing. The E-brake works good, so that means the rear brakes must not be so bad. I'm not sure if there is a leak somewhere or if they just need to be bleed.

All of that said, I think I got a smokin deal on this thing & look forward to this build. I will get a few more pics up as soon as the weather get decent enough for me to take some.

I never knew how much I would miss an e-brake till I didnt have one. Mine sticks horribly on the 84 PU, so I carry half a cinder block with me at all times to use as a ghetto e-brake

I agree with you, but if I had to chose I would rather have my brake pedal working instead of the E-brake.

Went through that also. Took me about 3 weeks to figure it all out. all the brakes would lock up on me after about 2 miles of driving. Turns out after going through everything, the brake booster pin that makes contact with the master cylinder was too long. This caused the brakes to drag and lock up.
