Filter appeared to have a thin layer of junk on it (probably clutch materiel) and the fluid was really thin. Lots of nasty watery residue at the bottom of the pan but nothing signification on the magnets to indicate bad clutch wear. Last trans that I smoked (66 Galaxie C6) left the magnets thickly caked in clutch mud.

New fluid $18, filter $27 and Lucas $10

The Lucas syrup is finally all in there along with another 1.5qt of t-fluid. Moment of truth and the fuckin battery is dead again. Be at least another hr till the wife's back with the Subby for a jump. Oh well, time to enjoy some Golden Monkey!

So It's goin pretty good now. Just has a problem when it initially engages. It does it from a dead stop and normal driving through residential stuff like corners where I have to let out of the throttle and get back in it.

Here's some vids to give a better idea
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PuBE_...2&feature=plcp
Short one where it seems like the converter is stalling at 4k rpm
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d0RSB...1&feature=plcp

Under normal launch from a stop it just takes a second then engages. It will work for now till I get to the 5spd swap. And the problem is intermittent, sometimes it works just fine. It seems like the torque converter is acting as a higher than stock stall converter but it's very inconsistent with RPM and more with just a time lag suggesting servo perhaps?

Located almost everything I need for $400, gotta love craigslist! Trans, t-case, cross member, front ds, flywheel, ECU, pedal, master cyl out of a 98 Tacoma that is getting a 350 swap. Motor has valve issues or I'd take it to! It's a 5hr drive away so the guy is throwing in a few spare parts for the old 3.4, alternator, starter, coil packs. The ECU is still in the box from the dealer, thought that was the motor issue but ended up being the valves.

Things I need:
Marlin Crawler clutch $260
Marlin Crawler Slave Cyl $35
The hard line from master to slave cyl (where can I find that?)
Rear drive shaft

I might run on FWD until I do the SAS unless for some crazy reason my rear DS fits. Gonna need long travel shafts for the extra travel.

The new gearing is gonna be pretty sweet, 4LO is gonna be ridiculous.

Is there a difference in the transfer case gearing?

Sure why not? I'v e done a few trans swaps in my garage in the past couple yrs. We don't have emissions testing or anything if that's what you're asking.

from your hard line from master to slave i would do a braided flexable line.

Only place you can get that is from junk yard or a dealer i bet.

Tho only other thing is if you had some straight pipe and a bender you can custom make one.

Dude,
transmissions have nothing to do with emissions trust me. Any state will allow it why they have kit titles for?

Only time it becomes emissions wise is when engine swaps happen.

you can get hard lines from most auto part stores and bend it yourself

So that braided line won't work? I'm down for doin it myself but it be cheaper to just get the braided one rather than buy hard line and the flaring tool, also easier to rout.
