4 runner gas mileage

I'm looking into getting a 4 runner. I was wondering if anybody could tell me what the gas mileage difference is between the 2 wheel drive and 4 wheel drive models.

 

I dont think there is much difference. Maybe a mile or two.
My wifes 2011 sr5 4x4 gets around 20mpg on the average.

 

2005 runner, sport edition v8 with FT 4wd gets 16.7 avg. Glad it's hers.

 

2005 4wd Sport with the 4.0 six, she gets 20-21 on avg, while my 3.4 six gets 16...

 

Think about it this way, the 4x4 is gonna get the same MPG's as a 2wd with 4 grown men in it. Just the extra weight factor, non of the 4wd is turning in 2wd besides cv axles. I've gotten 20mpg's hwy out of my 97 on 33's. It's down to 16mpg in town on 35's, 4mpg sacrifice worth it?......YES!

 

Our 2004 4x4 4Runner (1GR-FE) is getting a whopping 14.3, albeit on hilly roads with a lift and ARB with winch on it.

 

Perhaps auto manufacturers could put this on a sticker somewhere on the vehicle. That would be helpful. Or perhaps a website with that information readily available.
