Any interest in internal roll cage kits for 05+ Tacomas?

What kind of interest would there be in an 05+ Tacoma Internal Roll Cage Kit? Would you need it to be bolt in or is weld in ok? Please discuss your ideas, wants, requirements here. I'd truly like to hear your opinions.

FYI target price point for a weld in would be around $750-1k for DOM tubing, bolt in would probably be around $1250-1500, so keep that in mind if budget would be a major setback.

This is a discussion thread only, so please don't expect a kit to be done in two weeks. I'd like to hear YOUR ideas to see what you are looking for so I'm not going to start off by posting my ideas, slanting the discussion.

I'd definitely be interested in a Weld-in or Bolt-in kit.
- DOM or Chromoly!
- Access Cab Availability
- Ability to keep:
- stock dash in-tacked (cutting is acceptable)
- stock headliner
- stock floor carpet
- Cross beam between A-Pillar Tubes to be on closer to the windshield (kind of out of sight)
- Additional Gusset Kit (see pictures of Mike's Cage)
- Windshield bars (see 3rd Picture down)

Mixture of these:

Mike's (mjp2) cage would probably be the easiest to copy for a WIY kit or a Bolt-On kit

Big time interest! Do it and I will buy it!

Would love to retain backseat capability (whether stock or race seats) in a double cab. Tie the cage into the frame through the floor of the cab; maybe with some bushings thrown in to account for cab flex (so the cage doesn't tear the cab apart).

DOM tubing. Most garage fabricators can't weld chromoly anyways.

Let the end user figure out seat mounting; with everyone running different seats and some people doing things in stages it would be best that way. Bending a few tubes to make cage-mounted seat brackets is very reasonable.

Weld in is the way to go. Anyone with a legitimate need (pro's outweighing the cons) will benefit from the cost reduction of a weld in.

I was going to tackle this one myself in a couple of years, but if you make a nice cage, I'm in!

4x, I started a thread in the LT forum with a link to this thread. That's where the majority of the interest in a cage will be coming from.

Build it, and I will make David_K's pimping of A-trac look like weaksauce in comparison!

Also, speaking for us double cab guys, I understand the complications that the back seat throws into the mix and have no problem running tubes out the back of the cab/roof in order to tie into the frame or a bed cage.

You'd be looking somewhere around 150 lbs for the double cab probably.

Thank you for the input so far guys, keep it up!

1.75" .120wall dom with 6 attachment points to the chassis.

fyi... 4130 tube isnt any lighter than the dom/mild equivalent. so tube choice dosent make any difference besides strength and price.
