Cragar help

I have posted in the wheels and tires forum to see what answers I could get because I really want to get this done as soon as possible.

http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/whe...els-x-mas.html

Short summary of it is what do I need to get to run Cragar soft 8's on my 06 5 lug Taco. I'm going with the soft 8's in silver (not chrome) they come in many shapes and sizes I just need to know what to buy (spacers & offset)... I want the 15x7's not 15x8 and I know the bolt pattern (5x4.5). Then will I need anything else to make this work.

Please help as I want a happy x-mas and this will make it happen

How about these from summit racing
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/CRR-3995712/

Stock 2nd gen 5 lug wheels are 15x6 with +40 mm offset. Rather than me try to explain offset and backspacing, check out this website.
http://www.rimsntires.com/specs.jsp

Plug in the values for the stock wheels and tires. Then enter in the values for the Cragars and Kumhos. Play around with the different offset values to see how it changes how the wheel fits on the truck. Going from a +40mm offset on the stock wheel to a 0 mm offset on the Cragars will cause the wheel to stick out from the fender/wheelwell a little more. For a reference, my wheels have a +2 mm offset and I don't think they stick out too far.

Don't forget the centercaps and you may need some hub centric rings depending upon the inside diameter of the center caps. Your wheel hubs have a 60.1 mm diameter. If the centercaps are larger than that, you will need hub centric rings to take up the extra space. Also check that you have the right type of lug nuts.

Thank you for info and links ill play around when I get home from work. The look of the offset is thw only thing that would turn me off im not much for tires sticking out too far from the wheel well. I think yours looks good btw. I just need to figure out the center cap issue now I guess. Thanks again

I spoke with a customer service guy at 4wheelonline and he said that I need a wheel between a +20 - +44 offset to fit my truck properly?? Now I am even more confused.

ok so I guess service guy was wrong? Any idea if he has a lift?

Edit: Just looked him up and he has a lift, the service guy said they would work with a lift but not without one... this is still a mystery to me. I wish I could find someone that had this set up.

Not exactly sure why the wouldn't work without a lift. I know he put them on after the lift though, so maybe there is something to that. It just seems like if you're not running a huge tire, then it would be okay. I was running my eagle alloys with 30x9.5 tires before I installed my lift, so ..........

You can mount 30x9.5R15 (and the largest) on stock steelies. I would not go any bigger because the tires only get bigger and wider. You don't want to run a wide tire on a narrow rim (stock steelies is 15"x6") because the center part of the thread will wear much faster. There are some guys that are running Crager soft 8s on their truck (AlexA here are pictures, grizzlytravis and pictures, and mr.g is running some crager 342 on his truck)

If you read into some of the threads, grizzlytravis had to grind his brake calipers a little to mount them. I did not see anything about other members having to grind their calipers, you might want to send them a PM.

I'm actually speaking with a garage un my area that does some crazy work on trucks to see what they say, I'm liking these a lot, but the 4 wheel online guy said they wil not fit because of the offset.

http://4wheelonline.com/American_Rac....166935.611905

As far as tire size goes 235/75 R15 is all I really need.

and he says he rubs a bit with his lift... but that would be about 2" larger than the 15"s with 235's on it. I am more worried about the brake calipers than anything else.

I'm not sure but I think his rubbing might be from the black box in the fender well. I think most of us who run larger tires on the 5-luggers have remove the black box. It's just a black metal box mounted in the rear of the front fenders. It's partially hidden behind the fender liner. You can cut part of the liner and then remove the box. It's held in by 2 or 3 bolts.

X2.

Here is a link from a member of TN that has pictures of the black box.
